Make the most of the food, frights, rides and entertainment at Canada’s Wonderland Halloween Haunt.
It’s that time of year we horror fanatics and Halloween enthusiasts have waited all year for: Canada’s Wonderland’s Halloween Haunt (select nights, September 22–October 29, 2024).
The fright-fest is back and scarier than ever!
Whether you go to conquer fears, cruise for a hit of Halloween adrenaline, or make the most of Canada’s Wonderland rides, Halloween Haunt is a fall tradition you won’t want to miss.
Here’s the thing: depending on the night of the week, it’s only open for four (Sundays), five (Saturdays) or six (Fridays) hours. Therefore, strategy is key to fully exploring all five scare zones and eight mazes—not to mention jump on rides, meet monsters, take in the entertainment and grab a few bites. Here’s how to make the most of your time.
Tip from the crypt: wear layers and comfortable shoes. We recommend running shoes so you can outrun killer clowns and zombies in the scare zones.
Get lost in mazes and shoot at zombies
“They’re coming to get you, Barbara!”
Canada’s Wonderland Halloween Haunt opens at dusk. As the gates open, hordes of thrill-seekers itching for their scare fix stream in, meaning you need to move fast to get to the meatiest (busiest) parts of Halloween Haunt before the lines get too scary.
The clock is ticking: get to the interactive rides and mazes, ASAP.
Classic attractions like Zombies! and The Ruins are crowd favourites that quickly garner long lines, but 2024’s just-opened Demons of the Deep maze is at the top of our itinerary.
Navigate through flooded passages and underwater scenes in an abandoned marine lab infested with human-marine hybrids. Can you escape the depths alive?
A mix of indoor and outdoor attractions, Halloween Haunt’s mazes include:
- Demons of the Deep (New!)
- Dark Ride
- Necropolis
- Trick or Treat Street
- Spirit Manor
- Cornstalkers
- The Crypt
- The Ruins
As you walk between mazes, food spots and entertainment, the scares continue. Bridging the different park attractions are Halloween Haunt’s infamous scare zones: five terrifying open areas where you will be stalked, chased and lunged at by park actors in costumes, prosthetics and painted faces.
Want that plate of mid-Haunt poutine? You’ll have to navigate past sinister dark spirits in Kingdom of Carnage, flesh-hungry beasts in Gates of Terror and sadistic carnies in CarnEvil to get it.
Tip from the crypt: prefer a walk on the milder side? Skip the jump scares by requesting a No Boo button at the park entrance.
Sink your teeth into scary good eats
“Wouldst thou like to live deliciously?”
If you weren’t hungry before, you will be after all the running, sweating and screaming that’s typical of a good Halloween Haunt. Canada’s Wonderland food offerings include standard fast food, carnival fare and café options as well as some seasonal specials.
Last year’s top Halloween Haunt food hits included the gloriously green-bunned Burnt Ends Monster Sandwich, the fiendishly tasty Ghoster Coaster Funnel Cake and bloody delicious Spiced Vampire Pork Chop. We’re already dying to taste what 2024’s menu will bring!
Tip from the crypt: save time and stay on budget by pre-purchasing a meal plan online when you book your Halloween Haunt admission.
Catch a show or performance
“Do you like scary movies?”
Let Halloween Haunt’s talented crew of vampires, demons, skeletons, freaks and company thrill and chill you to the core as you take a breather for live entertainment. Sitting down to a show is a nice way to warm up indoors or rest your weary bones before heading back for more thrills and chills.
Gawk at horrors in the Freak Show, bust a move with the undead at Vampire Disco, be dazzled by the park-roaming Deathly LED Drumline, or take your party to any of the other live entertainment shows, including live bands, stunts and acrobatics.
Tip from the crypt: shows run at set times, so take a peek at the schedule if there’s something you don’t want to miss. Otherwise, drop in ready for surprises.
Ride out your final hour(s)
“End of the line!”
As the night progresses, the late hours belong to the final girls (and guys) who’ve made it this far. As things die down, take advantage of shorter lines to chase the last of the evening’s adrenaline highs on Canada’s Wonderland rides, including the country’s best roller coasters, drop towers and pendulum rides.
Try not to think about a certain horror movie while you ride, unless that makes it better for you.
All of Wonderland’s biggest and most thrilling rides are open during Halloween Haunt, including the tallest and fastest ride in Canada: Leviathan. Make this coaster your final destination before you wrap up the night.
Tip from the crypt: repeat Haunters know the park shops carry seasonal items you won’t find any other time of year. Treat yourself to something sweet and sugary (sugar skulls, perhaps?). It’s Halloween, after all!
