Vegan burgers in west-end Toronto

Odd Burger

Everything at Odd Burger is vegan and made from scratch using minimally processed and sustainable ingredients. 

The plant-based burger specialists offer six burgers, including their stacked Famous Burger, which features two house-made smash patties, cheese and special sauce. Another local fave: the Pulled Jack, in which marinated jackfruit is smothered in BBQ sauce for a Southern take on the sandwich.

Odd Burger got its start as Canada’s first vegan fast-food restaurant and drive-through and has since grown into a national chain. While this Little Italy outpost is its first in Toronto, four more are slated to open soon.

The Hogtown Vegan

You won’t find any hogs at The Hogtown Vegan since everything is plant-based, even the delectable bacon cheeseburger. This soy beef patty is topped with Daiya cheese, seitan bacon, pickles, onion and lettuce on a bun. 

Located on vibrant College Street just steps from boho Kensington Market, Hogtown Vegan is known for comfort food with a Southern spin. Eat in their plant-filled restaurant or sit outdoors at a picnic table on their patio.

 

Happy Burger

While the Impossible Vegan Cheeseburger is the only plant-based burger at the otherwise meat-centric Happy Burger, what a burger it is! 

It’s loaded with all-vegan fixings: cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion and Happy Sauce on a bun. The waffle fries and onion rings are also plant-based, so arrive hungry.

This location in Little Italy is the perfect launch for a day or night of shopping, sightseeing and/or bar hopping.

 

Cactus Club Café

This West Coast transplant serves up crowd-pleasing casual cuisine with a location in Etobicoke’s busy Sherway Gardens shopping centre. 

Cactus Club Café is a relaxed and family-friendly place to chill with friends indoors or out. Their vegan-friendly Impossible Burger comes with vegan mayo and a vegan bun, and you can add fresh greens or a kale salad.

Guerrilla Burger

Guerrilla Burger is fully vegan and builds its burgers around soy-, gluten- and GMO-free Beyond Burgers. 

All their delectable sauces and dressings are made in-house from scratch with premium ingredients. Their extensive plant-based burger menu offers 11 options, including the Kung Fu Burger with kimchi, crispy jalapeños and sesame togarashi aioli.

Located within Eva’s Original (known for its vegan and dairy ice cream Chimney Cones), this Annex burger joint has dessert built in.

Kupfert and Kim

Kupfert and Kim has multiple locations in the 6ix, including Yorkville, the perfect spot to refuel after sightseeing, shopping or gallery hopping. 

K&K’s burgers are meatless, wheatless and fully vegan, with tasty patties made from lentils and walnuts. The Guac Burger comes with pico de gallo and guacamole, while the Tahini Burger features lemon tahini, hummus and za’atar salsa. And the burger bun is completely optional: you can also opt for rice or greens if you’d prefer.

Planta Yorkville

For an upscale take on burgers, head to Planta Yorkville. This Bay Street eatery is known for its fashionable décor and elevated approach to casual cuisine. The restaurant’s chic, jungle-print murals are representative of its fully plant-based menu. 

While Planta is renowned for artful creations that reimagine, reinvent and revitalize vegan dining, their house burger stays true to form. It features a vegan patty, avocado, pickled onion, tomato, garlic aioli, dill pickle and arugula—plus fries or Caesar salad, naturally.

Mustache Burger

Great for a mixed crowd, the Mustache Burger food truck frequently stops at the main University of Toronto campus and major Toronto festivals like Pride and Caribbean Carnival

While it’s not fully vegan, the food truck’s menu includes one plant-based burger option: the Nature Burger. (Although the bun is vegan, Be sure to order it without cheese if your diet is dairy-free.)

Soak up the campus vibes and eat your burger at one of the many nearby picnic tables or on the grass under a shady tree with your friends.

Copper Branch

Copper Branch is a plant-based chain with multiple locations, including historic Old Town

Choose from four mouth-watering vegan burgers, including the Galaxy Burger, which swaps the traditional patty for a roasted portobello mushroom and toppings like zucchini, caramelized onions, vegan Provolone and garlic aioli on a brioche bun. Make it a combo with fries, sweet potato cubes, Caesar salad or coleslaw.

Evviva

Although Evviva isn’t fully vegan, it has an extensive plant-based menu. The vegan Crown Burger features a Beyond patty on a brioche bun topped with a sunny-side-up faux egg, caramelized onions, crispy soy bacon, melted cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. 

The Entertainment District location has a fun atmosphere with pink trees and sparkling chandeliers, as well as a breezy patio.

 

Real Sports (RS)

Craving beer, burgers and baseball? Head to Real Sports (RS), located just a few minutes walk from Rogers Centre, home to the Toronto Blue Jays

The RS vegan burger is a Beyond Burger with plant-based cheddar and vegan house sauce on a vegan bun. 

Located in the heart of Toronto’s sports and entertainment district, it’s the perfect place for Jays fans to head before or after the big game or to catch major league sports on the city’s biggest TV screen.

Soy Boys

Soy Boys is a joyful, friendly and fully plant-based small business in Church-Wellesley Village, the historic home of Toronto’s 2SLGBTQ+ communities. 

Single and double burgers feature Impossible patties and are piled high with classic toppings like lettuce, onion, pickles and house sauce on toasted buns. There’s even a faux chicken burger for those who prefer a lighter flavour. 

Best part: Soy Boys is open until 3 a.m. to address those late-night post-nightclub or bar hop munchies.

 

Amsterdam Brewhouse

Chill on one of four Lake Ontario-adjacent patios with stunning views of the Toronto Islands at Amsterdam Brewhouse in the Waterfront district. 

Their plant-based burger option is the Brewmaster’s Vegan Burger, which features vegan cheese on a gluten-free bun with lettuce, tomato, pickle and Awesome Sauce. Pair it with a Neon Haze IPA, malty Downtown Brown or your beverage of choice from one of Toronto’s biggest craft breweries.

Harry’s Charbroiled

Located right on the edge of bustling Little India, Harry’s Charbroiled is a bright, airy space perfect for lunch with friends or solo dining at the counter. 

The plant-based option on their otherwise meaty menu is the Vegan Jane, which consists of an Impossible patty, vegan cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion and Harry’s sauce on a bun.

Fresh Kitchen & Juice Bar

One of the original vegan restaurants in Toronto, Fresh Kitchen & Juice Bar serves three delicious house-made grain burgers. 

The Cali is loaded with avocado, feta, garlic mayo and pickled jalapeños. The BBQ Ranch burger is stacked high with smoked Provolone cheese, avocado and their famous quinoa onion rings on a toasted bun. 

One of five Toronto locations, the Danforth (Greektown) restaurant has a cute, covered patio in one of North America’s largest Greek neighbourhoods.
