On June 9, Destination Toronto hosted its 97th Annual General Meeting at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
Board Chair Andy Loges opened the meeting by welcoming guests to the first hybrid AGM with an in-person component since the start of the pandemic, one of many signals that tourism is on the road to recovery.
Joining the in-person component of the meeting, John Tory, Mayor of Toronto, reiterated his commitment to supporting the visitor economy and welcoming back visitors from around the world, starting with his promise to work with local authorities to improve delays at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Special recognition was given to Terry Mundell, who is retiring after years of service to the community and industry as President and CEO of the Greater Toronto Hotel Association.
Highlights from the 2021 Destination Toronto Annual Report were shared by Scott Beck, President & CEO, including a panel discussion on strategies to stimulate near-term recovery and long-term growth featuring Andrew Weir, Executive Vice President, Destination Development, Tara Gordon, Senior Vice President, Global Sales & Services, Rocco Fazzolari, Vice President, Finance & Administration, and Paula Port, Acting Vice President, Global Marketing.
