On November 9, 2022, members of the tourism and hospitality community met at the Omni King Edward Hotel for Destination Toronto’s Business Outlook Forum.

The full presentation is available in the recording above, which includes the latest business intelligence and data, the booking pace for sales and business events, trends and insights shaping the future of the visitor economy, and Destination Toronto’s 2023 business plans.

Those who attended in-person and virtually also received insights from knowledgeable guest speakers from the community.

Chris Bloore, President and CEO of the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO), spoke passionately about five key policy and political trends impacting the future of our industry.

The event also featured three panel discussions on meeting trends, value-based marketing, and raising Toronto’s profile through collaboration, with experts from each of these areas of interest.

Moderated by Tara Gordon from Destination Toronto, the first panel on Trends in Meetings included David Chisholm from Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Sonia Moffatt from Freeman, and Laura Purdy from Exhibition Place.

The second panel on Value-Based Marketing was moderated by Jeremy Maunder from Destination Toronto, and included Ashley McKenzie-Barnes from D.PE Agency and John Wallace from Toronto International Film Festival.

The final panel discussion on Collaborating as Toronto Champions included representatives from the organizations who make up Toronto Inc, including Andrew Weir from Destination Toronto, Daniel Hengeveld from Toronto Global, and Lindsay Broadhead from Toronto Region Board of Trade.

While the full presentation frames the context around Destination Toronto’s 2023 business approach, the video snapshot below shares the Four Pillars that will be a strategic focus for the year ahead, based on the key opportunities to provide value to Toronto’s tourism and hospitality community, and ultimately to drive impact and grow the visitor economy.
