Tell us something about your job we might find surprising?

Working with local experts (doctors mostly) on international conference bids, providing our DT support, we deep dive into their research focus to build content for the bid proposal and showcase Toronto, our diverse community and our attributes to win over other global destinations. I LOVE my job!

What destination is at the top of your 2022 travel list?

The USCAP selected Toronto as their partner to bid on the Int’l Academy of Pathology 37th Congress in 2028. We traveled to Sydney, Australia to present our final bid and won over China. We were there for 5 days and I saw nothing but the harbour with Sydney Opera House outside the window. Getting to know the CEO of USCAP and their President and bid rehearsals means no time to sightsee, unfortunately!

When someone tells you they’re visiting the 6ix, what’s the first thing you recommend experiencing?

I threw a “bone” out to international conference planning clients for 4 years now, “bring me an international conference and I will personally take you up to experience the Edge Walk on top of the CN Tower!!” Either they are too scared of heights OR they don’t want to make it easy for me to win the business.

What is your favourite WFH accessory?

Don't laugh but it's my throw blanket.  My husband and I have a love/hate relationship with the furnace as I'm always cold and he's hot.  I have it handy to lay over my legs when the temperature goes down!

What is your favourite destination outside of Toronto?

Banff, AB is my favourite destination for its beautiful mountains, stunning Lakes (Lake Louise & Lake Moraine) and abundance of wildlife. It is so nice to get back to nature.

What's Your favourite Toronto restaurant?

It is Salad King Thai Food near Yonge and Dundas.  The Golden Chicken Curry is to die for.  I usually only get 3 chilis on the spicy scale but if you're adventurous you can try up to 20 chilis!

Job Title: Event Specialist

What is your favourite WFH accessory?

My lil’ WONDERBOOM speaker is my constant companion when I’m not in a meeting. I NEED to have something playing at all times. Currently on heavy rotation is VV’s new album Neon Noir and Bill Hader’s show, Barry. So so so so much Barry. Did I mention I love Barry? BARRY!

Tell us about your most memorable trip

I drove to Philadelphia on a whim for a concert and decided to hang around the area for a bit as I’ve never been. Somehow I ended up taking a tour at Fonthill Castle. I bawled the entire time I was there. It was so unexpected, fascinating, and beautiful, like walking through someone else’s dream. It broke me. The most wonderful surprise ever.

What’s something in Toronto that is at the top of your bucket list?

I haven’t been to Casa Loma as a visitor in a long time and would love to do the tour or a non-escape room experience…or behind the scenes passageways and spooky stuff! Ooooooo!
