Enjoying Toronto through the Toronto Attractions Council Reciprocal Program

By Denise Belgrove

Did you know the Toronto Attractions Council offers a Reciprocal Program to Destination Toronto staff to help ensure our team is knowledgeable on the many attractions available to locals and visitors?

What is the TAC Reciprocal Program?

The Toronto Attractions Council Reciprocal Program facilitates and encourages Toronto attraction staff, volunteers, and some supporting organizations like DT, the opportunity to visit and learn about attractions across the city. The program offers a wide range of opportunities for DT staff including free or discounted admission to more than 80 attractions city wide.

How to redeem an offer

  1. First, review the Reciprocal Program document to choose the attraction you would like to visit.
  2. Once you have chosen an attraction, review the offer in the Admission Offer column. Note that an offer may be free admission, a cost discount, or limited to certain assets.
  3. Review the Valid For column to see exactly who is eligible to redeem the offer.
  4. Review the Offer Restrictions column. It is important that we respect the offer restrictions. This program is not open to our clients or media. DT has an independent program in place designed to allow our clients and media access to attractions.

You may notice that an employee ID is required to enter several of the attractions. It has been confirmed by the TAC chair that our digital business cards will work as ID for entry.

Access to all listed attractions is non-transferable and only extended to the groups identified in the document

This is not a program created by Destination Toronto, so we are asked to respect the process as defined by The Toronto Attractions Council. Although some of us may have relationships with the staff at many of the attractions, please do not reach out to ask for adjustments to the restrictions or valid entry.

The Reciprocal Program is much like a FAM (familiarization) visit. DT staff have the opportunity to learn about the attraction and experience what they have to offer. The hope is that the program allows DT staff to better understand the attractions and be able to talk about them with Travel Trade, and GSS clients, media, and more.

If you have any questions about the program, please reach out to Denise or Sarah.
